The UNICTi TF was launched by the UN Secretary General in 2001. The Task Force is the first UN body in which representatives of governmentis, civil society and organisations have equal status, but participation is dominated by governments and the private sector.
One of UN ICT Task Force’s assigned roles is also to facilitate the effective participation of women and men in the decision making processes of international policyi fora. The strategic objectives are outlined in the Plan of Action adopted in November 2001.
