*Girls and science: a training module on motivating girls to embark on science and technology careers
The module aims to address the inherent gender disparities in the field of science and technology, with a specific focus on Africa.

Social and economic development of a country is closely linked to the educational level of its female population. The under-representation and under-achievement of girls in science and technology subjects can be seen as a serious inefficiency in educational systems in countries whose development depends crucially on the generation of human technological capacity. This is the case in most African countries. If only more girls could be persuaded to take up science and technology subjects in schools, and could be persuaded to do better in them, the countries, so the argument goes, would have the benefit of an increased technological output with few extra inputs.

*Gender Mainstreaming in Practice: Handbook
A new Gender Mainstreaming methodology, written and developed by Regional Gender Programme, makes a gender dimension explicit in policy sectors. Gender equality is no longer viewed as a "separate question", but becomes a concern for all policies and programmes. Furthermore, a gender mainstreaming approach does not look at women in isolation, but looks at women and men both as actors in the development process, and its beneficiaries. This handbook is designed specifically for policy-makers who are not experts in gender issues, but who nonetheless are charged with the day-to-day responsibility of gender mainstreaming, according to organizational mandates. This handbook is meant to guide these professionals in their work. Available in English and Russian
