Anri van der Spuy

Anri is an independent consultant and works on a range of internet governance and ICT for development challenges. Recent work includes studying the evolution of multistakeholder participation in internet governance and developing policy recommendations for more inclusive Internet policymaking; studying how internet access can support the sustainable development goal, and developing tangible stakeholder recommendations for better understanding and addressing digital gender divides. In addition to work with APC, her recent and ongoing projects in the field include work for UNESCO, the UN Secretariat of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), Research ICT Africa, the Internet Society, GSMA, ICANN, ict Development Associates ltd, and Freedom House. Anri is an admitted attorney and holds an MSc in Media in Communications Governance (with distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) (UK). Before working as an attorney, she attended the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa), where she obtained an MPhil in Media, Democracy and Development (cum laude), a BPhil in Journalism, and LLB (law) degree.
