Siko Bouterse

Siko has worked with global online communities for over 10 years with an intent to build bridges and empower people to share knowledge. As Director of Community Resources at the Wikimedia Foundation, she led a team of grantmakers and community organizers to support individuals and organizations around the world in sharing free knowledge on Wikipedia and its sister projects. Women’s presence online is of particular importance to Siko: in 2015 she created the Inspire Campaign to crowdsource new ideas and strategies for addressing Wikipedia’s gender gap. She along with Anasuya Sengupta created the project Whose Knowledge? through which they bring together a unique combination of experiences, skills and approaches in critical feminist scholarship and human rights activism, intersecting with a deep knowledge of internet technologies and online community organizing.
