Gender and Agriculture in the Information Society

The advent of the information society offers increased scope for ICTs to be used to address poverty and enhance rural livelihoods. The paper explores ICTs in relation to gender, specifically focusing on gender and ICT applications in agricultural and rural development in developing countries. Its aim is to attract the attention of policymakers, donors, researchers, nongovernmental organizations, and farmers’ organizations to the need for dialogue and action on issues of ICT and gender in the context of food security, poverty reduction, and sustainable development.
