Teaching and the use of ICT in Hungary

Among the most important system-level problems in school ICT development - Maintenance, Management, Training, Teacher incentives - the paper also talks about gender importance:

The contrast between the gender composition of the teaching profession and "traditions" of ICT culture should be noted among the additional factors conditioning ICT skills development of teachers. The teaching profession is strongly female-dominated in most developed countries and this trend is particularly strong in Hungary, both at primary and secondary level (see table 6). In contrast with this trend ICT is still considered as part of the technological culture dominated by men. This sub-cultural difference in ICT use and

learning remains rather hidden, whereas important differences in learning styles of different sexes are discovered in the literature related to the pedagogical context of ICT.
