Debarati Das
Debarati Das is a queer non-binary feminist based in India. They're an independent consultant with expertise in the intersections of gender and technology. At the Coalition for Independent Technology Research, they work across processes to support the membership, communications, and advocacy to advance and defend the right to study the impacts of technology on society. At South Feminist Futures, they primarily work to build, enhance, and sustain a Knowledge Hub to support Southern feminist activism. Previously, they led several capacity building programmes on digital literacy, digital security, and tech-facilitated gender-based violence (TfGBV) with women, adolescent girls, queer and trans persons, sex workers, and disabled individuals in India. Their interests lie in tech research, digital care and wellbeing, TfGBV, decolonising tech, and Southern feminist knowledge and memory.

As South Asian LGBTQIA+ folk navigate already unsafe and uncertain societies, digital spaces have increasingly become equally risky with the corporate greed that profits off their data at the expense of their already at-risk privacy. Debarati Das argues that this type of digital colonialism has far-reaching implications on the queer communities in the region.
